At Anthem, we believe that giving back to the community is a responsibility we all share. Our employees contribute their time, energy and resources to food banks, blood drives, health and vision screenings and a multitude of volunteer services. Anthem supports employee engagement at eligible 501(c)(3) charities through the following programs:
Dollars for Dollars Program
Year-round, Anthem employees give generously to health-related nonprofit organizations across the country through our Dollars for Dollars Program, with a 1:1 match from the Anthem Foundation. In 2017, $4.6 million was raised.
Employees can also choose to donate to the Anthem Cares Fund and help colleagues in need of financial assistance because of qualified disasters or personal hardship.
Dollars for Doers
The Dollars for Doers program encourages year-round employee volunteerism—and helps employees further commit to their communities by providing associates rewards they can direct to charities of their choice.
Volunteer Time Off
Anthem offers volunteer time off to make it easier for employees to support organizations that are important to them. Because many volunteer opportunities occur during work hours, allowing full-time employees to use Volunteer Time Off enables more of them to help. Eligible employees receive up to eight hours of paid time to volunteer at qualified charities of their choice.
Volunteer Recognition Program
By inviting Anthem employees to share their volunteer stories and personal reasons for giving back to their communities, as well as nominating their colleagues who are going above and beyond, each quarter the Anthem Foundation selects a grand-prize winner who exemplifies our value of Caring for Our Communities. The program winners get to choose eligible charities to which the Foundation will award special grants.
Anthem Volunteer Days
Each fall, our employees and leaders across the company come together for a season of service. Anthem Volunteer Days, made possible through a partnership with Lions Club International, have engaged 2,500 Anthem volunteers alongside 1,500 Lions to achieve over 12,000 hours of service in 75 projects across the country since 2015.
